Gathered interior design, layout design and photography inspiration to help guide the direction of my work for Experia.
Sketches
My initial sketches utilized print outs of letterforms, tracing paper, and a pencil. The point of this exercise was to slow down and focus on the unique elements in each specific chosen typeface.
Exploration
In this phase of the publication wordmark I found that "evoke" wasn't fully capturing the concept of my publication. My intent this time was to capture what it meant to enter a new space — the quality and experience of a new environment.
Naming Process
After careful consideration and a reflection of the target audience, those interested in the impact and implication of interior spaces, I came to a neologism: Experia. Experia comes from the words experience + area.

The photography is meant to emulate this feeling of intimacy and quietness which is possible in many forms and through different personalities across different spaces in a home.

Type Treatment
The typography system was focused a mix of sensorial serif typeface with a more structured grotesk typeface creating a visual contrast that emulating the power of quiet expression and strong ideas. Moments of type placement between body copy further the creation of an intimate experience between the reader and the writing.
